Simple Church Conference

————-

October 28-29, 2023

REGISTRATION DEADLINE FRIDAY, OCTOBER 6TH!

DESCRIPTION

Come to Kentucky’s second oldest town this year to connect with and learn alongside simple/house/organic church practitioners from around the region at the 2023 Simple Church Retreat/Conference!

Since 2012, we have sought to host an annual overnight opportunity for Christians asking similar questions to come together for a time of equipping and encouragement—questions like:

  • What is a church really?
  • What are the challenges we would need to overcome in order to be a part of a simple/house church?
  • Am I even allowed to start a house church and if so how does that happen?
  • What are the joys and victories people are experiencing in simple/house church communities?
  • How does house church play a role in the bigger picture of what God is doing?

If you have questions like these or other similar ones, we know you will be encouraged by this unique opportunity! Join us for this brief but focused time together, and you will be refreshed and stimulated in your faith as we enjoy times of worship, teaching and prayer.  Most of all, you will be blessed to make friends with others who are exploring following Jesus outside the box!

“In total there are currently (mid 2021) at least 22.6 million house churches worldwide with a total of around 300 million members. They are, considering all internal and contextual factors, by far the most viral, adaptable and multipliable segment of Christ‐followers globally. If their number continues to grow at a very realistic rate of 20% per year, they will reach a membership of more than 4 billion people within the next 30 years – while most traditional church systems are in overall decline.” – Wolfgang Simson

Again this year we will be staying in the guest homes at the Stanford Inn at the Wilderness Road! Visit Website Here.

Children?

At every simple church network gathering, we always encourage children to come.  However, for this one overnight we do ask that parents make other arrangements for children (unless nursing).  We really believe, for couples, having this one day out of the year to consider the call to make disciples and serve in a simple church a great investment in your family.  Please let us know if this is an issue and we will work with you to help arrange childcare if none is available to you.

Single?

Please don’t misunderstand, this is not a “marriage retreat.”  We welcome you to come!

Meals?

Registration does not include meal costs on Saturday.  We highly encourage anyone who can to plan to have lunch and dinner at the Bluebird Cafe!  You will not regret it!  In addition, each home is equipped with a full kitchen.  If we have guests stay in the St. Asaph Inn, it also has a kitchen area for guests.  A light breakfast will be provided with registration and served on Sunday morning for us to share together.

Extra Night?

If you want to come on Friday night, please let us know asap.  We can make arrangements for that to happen, but space will be filling up and we do not have rooms on hold for Friday night.

FAQs

What should I bring to the event?

Do you have a friend who would benefit from being encouraged by others in simple churches?  Also, bring along a Bible, pen, notepad, comfortable clothes and an open heart.

What if I have dietary concerns for the meals (vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, etc.)?

You can view the menu at the Bluebird Cafe here.  You are also welcome to bring your own food and eat in the home.

Can I come for part of the conference?

We urge all attendees to stay overnight. However, we understand that some may not be able to make it for the entire conference. Please join us for as much as possible and make sure to get a ticket for “no lodging” here on this site.

Are scholarships available?

Yes. Contact us to request a scholarship. Please send an email with the subject “Conference Scholarship” and briefly state your desire for financial assistance. Feel free to request on behalf of a friend. If you would like to make a donation for a scholarship, please select the scholarship option in registration.

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?
