No Place Left Vermont – by Justin Bagley

“…there is no more place for me to work in these regions…”

-Paul the Apostle (Romans 15:23, NIV)

We at Green Mountain Simple Church are immensely excited to partner with No Place Left, “an international movement of movements aimed at getting to no place left where Christ is not made known in our generation.”

On August 20-21, 2018, GMSC had the opportunity to partner with Calvary Bible Church in Rutland to host No Place Left trainers Justin White from Raleigh, North Carolina and Jon Slenker from Norfolk, Virginia.

We spent Friday night with the trainers and members of several area churches, training in simple tools designed to help believers understand their identity as ambassadors of Christ to the world and to share their faith with others. On Saturday morning, after some review of what we learned Friday night, we all went out into the harvest to share our faith.

Twenty believers were sent out in six teams. Some went door-to-door near Calvary Bible Church, some went to the Farmer’s Market in downtown Rutland, some went to the hospital, and some went to friends or family that God had set on their hearts to share with. In one hour those six teams engaged 42 people in spiritual conversation, prayed with 16 people, shared the gospel with 17 people, and 4 people put their faith in Jesus as their savior!

Sunday morning, using the same gospel-sharing tools, GMSC elder Matt Rosenberg shared the gospel with a woman at a local grocery store and she too received Christ! That afternoon, Matt met with this new believer and his mother-in-law, Darlene, for discipleship and prayer.

On Sunday evening we gathered at the home of Justin and Sarah Bagley in Rutland for church. We used our church time to train those who were unable to attend the weekend training. During this time, Matt was sharing what he had learned with Darlene and Justin’s mother, Cassie.

While studying scripture and listening to the testimonies of Darlene and Matt, Cassie truly understood the love, forgiveness and hope of the gospel for the first time, and she also placed her faith in Jesus as her savior! In less than 36 hours, God had used the No Place Left tools in the hands of a few faithful Christians to make 6 new disciples here in the least religious, least churched state in America! Half an hour later, Matt and Justin (another GMSC elder), had the privilege of baptizing Cassie.

Cassie has said that “I have carried a heavy burden of guilt most of my adult life. I was forgiven by everyone but myself. I couldn’t forgive myself. Finally after many years of struggling with me God pulled me in. I accepted Jesus as my Savior! I am free! I can breathe!” Praise the Lord!
