“Church At The Home” by Susan & Jake Norris

I got involved with home church back in 1978 in Manchester, NH.  I’ve found that it’s been the greatest involvement with any group of people because of the focus on Jesus Christ. Living the word of God as a lifestyle and not a manmade religion, has made the difference in my ability to grow with God and get to know my Lord. When I walked in the room for the first time and heard the Bible being taught, I knew that this was what I had been looking for. I had come home. It was electric! I took some Bible classes to get familiar with some foundational Scriptures that opened up a whole new way of seeing things.

I experienced a lot of healing when I went from using my own five senses, to walking by the spirit and renewing my thinking with God’s Word. Over the years, I have lived in different states, but have been in Kentucky the longest..since 1985, where I met my husband, Jake. We had been going to a home church here for a while, but with my work schedule, Sunday fellowships were not always available for me to attend. When I started working as a psychiatric nurse, I really saw the devastation of Satan in people’s lives and minds.  I was reminded of what a privilege it is to know about having a sound mind, and the gifts I had been given to help others to have a sound mind also. So, I was inspired to commit myself to one day a week (Wednesday) where my home would be open to others who wanted to be a part of a believing community in which we could give God the glory, experience signs, wonders and miracles, and be together to raise and encourage one another.

So that was in 2006, and here we are 10 years later.  We are still seeking, getting direction, and answers.  We are ever so thankful to be in this place today with such a magnificent family of believers. After learning about the Simple Church Alliance, we are so blessed to get to know the believers here, and we hope to try and serve any way we can.

God Bless, Susan and Jake Norris
