Profile: The Morris Family – Frankfort, KY

Hello my name is Moe and my wife’s name is Angela. We moved to Frankfort, Kentucky in February. We were married on October 19, 2013 and just gave birth to our first child, Gideon James, on June 13, 2015!

I became a Christian 11 years ago at the age of 28. My wife grew up in the church and has been a Christian most of her life. For some time, I have felt an urge to be part of a house church, but I have to admit that it was not always out of the right motive. I have been tired of the traditional church for some time, but that quickly turned into a negative and at times very bitter opinion of the church. I would be what most would call a disgruntled church member. I will be the first to admit that this was not a healthy time for me spiritually and a time which I look back on and regret, yet at the same time that period in my life helps me in understanding where a lot of people may be as well.

What I have discovered over the last year is that, although the traditional church may not be a good fit for my wife and I, it’s still a very relevant and effective way for many others to worship. Unfortunately, I have spent many years wondering how Christians could be satisfied with the way traditional church is structured. I have wasted many Sundays contemplating this frustration only to be left feeling empty inside. Today I am happy to say that I have now found peace in the fact that, just like there are many who love to go to traditional church, there are many just like us who long for a more intimate gathering within our homes. There is not a right way or a wrong way of doing this, there is only the way that is right for you and your family to grow in your relationship with Christ and His body.

With this new peace in my life, I began to feel stronger than ever before a calling to plant a house church in our current home in Frankfort, Kentucky. As I shared this with my wife, I was excited to discover that she too felt that this was the right move at the right time in our lives. I was even more shocked when she said we can start as soon as the following week since we were due to have a newborn at any time! Nevertheless, we plan to get started soon!

Angela and I are happy to introduce ourselves to the simple church community and are very excited to be starting this journey! We can’t wait to see what the Lord has in store for us!

We hope to see you all very soon, and if you are in the Frankfort area please do not hesitate to contact us!
