Letter To A New Believer

We recently had a lady from China pray to begin a new life with Jesus with one of the couples involved in The Simple Church Alliance. This past Sunday we had a “birthday party” for her and I thought I would share with you a letter of encouragement I gave to her…

April 10, 2011

Dear ***********

Even though you don’t know me, I want you to know that I have been praying for you and I’m very excited that you desire to begin a new life with Jesus as your Savior and Lord.

I wanted to encourage you with the following scriptures:

2 Corinthians 5:17

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

John 3:3-6

3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”
4 “How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!”
5 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.

I have been blessed to have four children. With each child, I’ve been reminded of how newborn babies have a total dependence on their mother and father during their infancy. They need them to teach them how to eat, walk, talk, and also to learn boundaries and rules that will protect them and give them the best life possible.

When we become “new born” Christians and become spiritual babies we are like physical newborn babies in many ways. We need to have a total dependence on our new Father in Heaven for all things in order to learn how to mature as a Christian. God is also gracious to provide us with spiritual parents here in order to help us grow in our faith. I’m glad that God has put C.A. and Anita in your life as well as other great people like Doug Johnston. Know that all of us involved in the Simple Church Alliance are also here for you as well.

Also, like with newborn babies, it takes time for us to grow spiritually. You will make mistakes and it will be hard at times to understand what your Father in Heaven desires for you. Don’t be discouraged. He is a loving Father and He cares for you greatly and will pick you up when you fall down and help you along the journey He has planned for you. Just continue to stay close to Him, His family, and read the Bible—his love letter to you!

I’m excited for you and will continue to pray that God will bless you in many ways. Let me leave you with another verse that encouraged me when I became a Christian and I’ve shared with many new believers in the past years. It is a verse that really helps me to have confidence in what God has done for me through Jesus and what he will do for me some day when I die.

1 John 5

11And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.

13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. 14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.

Your new brother in Christ,

  1. I was looking for something to write in a Bible for someone who I think is looking for the truth. I I’m glad I came across your greeting, as it has helped me to see what I would like to write in a greeting of my own to this young new person who I think is searching for the truth. Therefore, thank you so much for publishing your greeting for all to read..

    Greetings in Christ!

  2. I am planning to write my greeting today in a Bible I plan to give to this young man named MALIK. Please pray he has a heart for knowing the truth and that he prays to receive Christ Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior. I met him at a Salvation Army store here in Florida and saw that when I dropped off my donation that he had a book set aside authored by Stormie Omartian; when I questioned him about it, I found out that he was reading it and I thought this would be an opportunity for me to share the Lord with him in case he isn’t saved yet.

Again, THANKS for the part God has used of you in this effort.

    God’s blessings upon you!
